Abstract
(English)
The TN aims at a qualification and validation of non-invasive optical methods as tools for diagnosis and monitoring the course of diseases like diabetes or cancer. It is proposed for coordinating research into common issues of different methods such as optical coherence tomography, optical spectroscopy, auto- and xeno-fluorescence, frequency and time domain measurements. The European consortium is composed of a multidisciplinary team of researchers, technical experts, clinicians and partners from industry. In a horizontal approach, different fields as tissue optical characterisation, anatomical and functional imaging, measurement techniques and instrumentation as well as standardisation are addressed. It is the aim to optimise the systems for clinical use and to improve the device specifications for diagnosis. The clinical application of the new methods will be validated by multi-centre clinical trials.
