Abstract (English)

A series of unexpected new chiral organometallic Ru-complexes have been prepared starting from Ru(II) Binap and Ru(II) MeO-Biphep phosphine compounds. The new complexes, which arise from stereospecific P-C bond making reactions, demonstrate unusual and in some cases unprecedented olefin-ruthenium binding modes. The mechanistic knowledge gained during this chemistry has allowed a facile synthesis of new chiral ruthenium hydride arene complexes to be developed.
