Abstract
(English)
The objective of the project is to provide the scientific and technical basis for a new generation of Thermal-Hydraulic (TH) codes aimed at substantially improved prediction capabilities for safety relevant phenomena in present or future innovative Light Water Reactors (LWR). This includes in particular the further development and adaptation of state-of-the- art numerical techniques for transient two-phase flows allowing a high resolution of complex multi-dimensional flow processes. Specific attention will be given to the incorporation of advanced modelling strategies such as the multi-field representation of two-phase flow, the transport of interfacial area concentration and handling of turbulent diffusion terms.
