Abstract
(English)
The European Union (EU) PARSOAR project consists in carrying out a state of the art on hydrogen passive autocatalytic recombiners and a handbook guide for implementing such devices in nuclear power plants. This work is performed in the area ' Operational Safety of Existing Installations ' of the key action ' Nuclear Fission ' of the fifth Euratom framework programme (1998-2002).
Different representative actors of the nuclear market are parts of the PARSOAR project. The project partners are coming from a number of countries (Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland).
Although designers, utilities and experts have published numerous papers on catalytic recombiners during the last ten years no global synthesis has been performed yet. The aim of the project is to make up this lack and to answer needs of all the nuclear technology partners. The PARSOAR workgroup has an ambition to highlight the main points of a common practice for implementing catalytic recombiners in nuclear power plants as the hydrogen hazard mitigation strategy. To lead to the description of a European common approach in the way of the hydrogen hazard mitigation means, two viewpoints have been chosen:

· The PARSOAR members come from very varied backgrounds of the nuclear market:
* Catalytic recombiner designers
* Nuclear power plant utilities
* Research centre experts
* Technical safety authorities.

· The national practices for implementing catalytic recombiners are listed and described:
* The PARSOAR workgroup write a draft
* The national actors (utilities, authorities) amend this draft.
