Abstract
(Englisch)
EASIT aims to improve the take up of advanced subsystem integration technologies (specifically high-density packaging, HDP) and the 'time to market' for new products through the following actions:· Providing a network of manufacturers who can deliver prototypes, low and high volume production.· Providing a service to identify sources of components (ASIC's, bare die, CSPs and microsystems devices) which are needed.· Strengthening the existing European service network so that companies can find local support and advice on HDP.· Developing advanced technology training material and techno-economic courses.EASIT is built on the infrastructure created in the previous Esprit funded project, Europractice MCM. EASIT is creating a network of suppliers who can offer strategic support on emerging technologies to companies in Europe. The availability of components will continue to be an issue while HDP is maturing as a technology. The objective is to further develop the service set up during Europractice MCM. It will centralise component requests, which come in from other partners or direct and act as a single contact point into die foundries, die houses and value-added die resellers. Users or potential users of advanced technology can benefit from support from a Service Centre within their local region. The objective is to supplement the number of Service Centres created under Europractice by collaborating with other technology support organisations such as TTNs. The former have in-depth knowledge of HDP technology whereas the latter understand the needs of local industry. Working together will improve the take up of HDP across Europe. The objective is to identify and fill gaps in the availability of advanced training courses in HDP. EASIT is developping the course material and provide lecturers. During the project six days of advanced training courses will be developed and delivered at multiple sites across Europe. The EP-HDP project will deliver access to advanced subsystem integration technologies by the creation of interconnected networks which reach out into the supplier and user communities.
