The aim of the IQ-TEST Thematic Network is to further develop common quality procedures for testing, calibration, data gathering, cleaning and analysis, interpretation of test results and scaling/replication to real buildings, maintenance of test infrastructure which exist in 12 European countries. This should consolidate the network, integrate the new test sites and strengthen its common approach of support for new product developments in the field of innovative building components through semi-standardised tests and pragmatic, practicable and affordable but accurate procedures.
The work is subdivided into 7 work packages: WP 1 - Existing quality procedures for test site management, testing and data analysis will be adapted and new (pragmatic) ones will be developed (quality check of data and analysis of results) to make them more practicable and feasible. The procedures will be recorded in manuals and checked by an inspection visit at all test sites. WP 2 - A set of training instruments will be developed and applied in training sessions for the test site managers to promote the compliance of each members test site expertise in design, preparation and execution of tests and analysis of test data with the required quality level. WP 3 - Round robin tests will be executed as part of a feasibility study for standardisation activities. This is aimed to assess the inter-site quality of testing and analytical procedures of the members, with a view to developing standards for outdoor testing. High quality data for model calibration will be generated. WP 4 - Existing material of case studies will be collated, documented, synthesised and disseminated to illustrate the Network's methodology and its potential benefits to designers and manufacturers of novel building components. WP 5 - Running and new RTD activities involving this type of testing will be co-ordinated in this WP, to identify the direction of new common RTD activities for the Network and to propose a strategy for implementation of specific activities. WP 6 - Support for the organisation of national and regional seminars, for the promotion of the Network's tools and capabilities towards potential clients. WP 7 - Overall co-ordination of the thematic network, providing the basic conditions for networking between the members. This includes communication with WP leaders, Steering Committee and members, the network secretariat, setting up and maintenance of a web site (http://www.paslink.org).
