Hydrocarbon-bearing structures cause modifications of the geo-seismic background noise in the low frequency range (microtremors). The impact of heterogeneities, such as soft-soil amplification and attenuation due to 'patchy saturation', on these modifications are quantified using numerical models. Also, methods to distinguish between oil and gas using surface velocity spectra are developed. The resulting new service product will be directly implemented into the industrial partner¿s technology, to provide more specific information to customers.
