Prototype logger devices and the associated wireless and gateway infrastructure will be developed to facilitate entrance in new markets. Special attention will be paid to the use of the logger in monitoring health related physical activities. This new market field addresses the need to fight some of the problems related to insufficient physical activities. A small and robust device will be used to record movements of those carrying it. The data will be automatically and wirelessly sent to a gateway and from there, to a central computer where health related patterns will be extracted and made available to those entitled to that data. Special attention will be paid to robustness, power consumption, data transfer, security and user friendliness. The use of energy harvesting to increase energy autonomy will also be investigated.
